Overview of Level 1
In Level 1 students join our programme and for many this is the first time they are taught by a foreign teacher, so initially the focus is upon assisting the students to become confident with the foreign teachers and to communicate in English. During this period the aim is to build rapport and encourage students with their studies as initially enter the programme with enthusiasm.
For many students it quite an adjustment in dealing with the difference with Western teacher approaches to Chinese and the use of western books so the first semester many lessons are focused on building positive classroom experience to help students to introduce themselves and their studies which is a common theme in the opening section of the speaking test in the IELTS Exam.
During this year students are offered tasks to help them describe their personal experience and future plans for employment. They are gradually introduced to the skills they need in writing for the IELTS Exam such a describing some simple charts.
By the end the first year of study it is hoped students are ready to commence serious IELTS preparation and also study courses in English such as Australian Culture and Study Skills.
