Introducing the foundation teachers
On this page we like to introduce all the foundation teachers to you. All the teachers in the Foundation Programme are qualified individuals with many holding higher degrees in Education and Linguistics. Some teachers hold British Council recognised qualifications in TESOL.
The teachers have been carefully selected by IIBT as the people who will be most suitable in terms of professional attributes and qualifications, to ensure the highest quality delivery of the programme and professionalism in their relationships towards students.
Here at Anhui College of International Economy the students have had the benefits of a multinational teaching force, with teachers drawn from all corners of the globe. Currently we have teachers from Australia, UK, Philippines and the United States. Students benefit form hearing a variety of accents and of course have exposure to many different cultures, which is excellent for students who are preparing to study in a multicultural country like Australia and also the international atmosphere of the universities they will move into.
Below is a brief introduction and message from the current foundation teachers here at Anhui College of International Economy.

David Wills
Hi,
I'm David and I'm one of the teachers for the whole of levels one and two. I’ve been teaching at CIE since 2010, when I first moved to China. Prior to that I was teaching in South Korea for three years, where I met my wife, Amy. We were married in June 2011, in Bangkok, Thailand.
I am originally from Scotland, although I have spent much of my life travelling. In particular I like to travel around Asia, and have visited more than twenty countries. I like learning languages, too, and can speak Korean (안녕하세요!). I'm trying to learn Chinese as well. I spend my free time writing, reading, gardening, and rescuing cats.
I studied literature and history at university, and earned my Masters in 2007 from the University of Dundee. After that I worked in America for a short period of time, practicing journalism and editing.
Cheers,
David

Hi!
My name is Cecil. You can also call me, Ces. I am from the Philippines. I have a degree in Commerce majoring in Banking and Finance. I also have a teaching certificate which I earned in 2008 through the distance learning program of the University of the Philippines. I am currently in the process of completing my post-graduate degree in Language and Literacy Education with the same university.
I have been teaching here in China since 2004. I stayed in Kaiping, a small city in Guangdong province for a year before I came to Hefei in 2005. Hefei is like my second home now. I am the newest foreign teacher here in CIE. This is just my second term. I have not met most of the students yet, especially those in Levels 1 and 2. I am looking forward to knowing you all, maybe next year!
Aside from teaching; I also enjoy cooking, baking, and taking and editing photos.
See you around the school!

Howdy!
You can call me Matt or Matthew, whichever you prefer. I'm from America, and like Dave I've been a teacher here at CIE since Fall 2010. This is my first time living here, but I'd visited China a couple times before in my youth. I love learning about new aspects of Chinese history and culture, especially anything that is related to food!
I've done a fair bit of traveling around Asia, and plan to do more so in the future. I also enjoy the occasional soccer (or as some people might call it "football") match and running when the weather's nice.
I led a bit of a nomadic life growing up. I was born in California, but I've also lived in Virginia (where I finished university), Oregon, Okinawa, Pennsylvania, and Hawaii. I'm always willing to make time if you'd like to chat about anything, so feel free to stop by the office sometime!
Have a good one!

大家好!
I am Richard Wood, the academic cooridnator of the foundation programme at CIE. I come from the UK and have been living and working in Hefei since the summer of 2006. Now I like to call myself 合肥本地的老外. I have been teaching at CIE full-time since January 2011, but also did some part-time teaching during 2010.
I really enjoy travelling to new places to experience different cultures, people and, of course, food. In fact, to further prove that I have adapted to Chinese lifestyle you can often see me at the local market buying fresh produce to take home to cook myself. My Chinese cooking ability has improved rapidly over the past few years!
In my free-time I enjoy doing sports like swimming, football and badminton, reading, photography and studying. Yes, that’s right, some people enjoy learning!
Take it easy!
