What happens in our classes?
All the foundation teachers have had done training in modern TESOL methodology and are supported by some experienced teachers with higher level qualifications in TESOL and Training and Assessment. To the left is Richard Wood one of our most experience teachers with CELTA training. He not only teaches but offers support to other teachers and has in recent years coordinated the Practice Speaking Tests in CIE.
All the teachers in the programme are sensitive to the cultural difference of Chinese students and adjust their approaches to cater for this. All the classes are delivered in English and in many lessons teachers use quality ESL and other teaching resources sourced from abroad or off professional websites. Sometimes teachers will create their own lesson materials to meet the needs of students or to make their lesson more interesting. The foreign teacher will not always use a textbook!
So what is likely to happen in the foundation teachers class:
In a western classroom you are encouraged to be active and not expect the teacher to always talk. All the foundation teachers hope you can have fun and enjoy the lessons. If you came with a positive attitude and want to be part of what is happening that is when you get most out of this programme. In this section of the website we have a photo gallery of what happens in our classes. We are sure those students who come often to class enjoy them and get the most benefit from them!
