Alan Ford
Hi All,
I am Alan. I am from Australia and worked at CIE up until summer 2012. From 2008 I worked for 3 years as a foundation teacher and from 2010 was the co-coordinator of the programme.
Prior to coming to China I taught many years as a high school teacher in Australia and gradually become tired of doing this, and after some trips overseas decided it would be fun to teach in other countries and did my first training ESL in 2006. Since this time, I have continued to study and upgrade my qualifications with TESOL and adult education. I am currently doing my Masters of TESOL through the University of Leicester.
Apart from work, I am a passionate gardener and miss my orchard and small vegetable farm I sold before coming to China. With my former colleague David, I must be among the few foreigners to grow some vegetables in China, with a nice little garden out the back of our apartments.
Hefei is a special place for me, as I have found the love of my life, in a local girl Ni Guang Jun (Jean) and have become part of a great Chinese family. I also have the most gorgeous son in Tim who was born in March 2011.
I hope all you enjoy our website and the students have the same passion for learning as I do for teaching English.
Take care
Alan
